Ending my 5th grade year, one of my
teachers at Nickles Intermediate School was willing to give up his time to
help me find the perfect instrument for me. Of course, I went with the
trombone, which just happend to be the instrument he played. From there on out
to now my 10th grade year, he has been by my side the whole
time.He was an Air Force piolet for the United States
Air Force. He then retired from the force to be a band teacher. Ever since,
kids that have gone through his class have loved him as if he was their dad. He was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease, and a
few years after that, he was forced to retire from his director position. He
still wanted to be involved, so he did not quit. He was then appointed to the
position of Fine Arts Director handling all the fine arts in the Byron Center
District. My life is full of arts, music, visual etc. Just
take this show for example. If he wasn't there encouraging, and helping me, I
don't know if I would be where I am today. He is a TRUE inspiration to everyone
that knows him. He is such a Godly man that I just want to be around him all
the time.Saying that, we will be collecting donations at
the display and online for the Parkinsons Foundation to help find a cure,
hoping that this teacher and others will be cured and can live the life
they deserve.
