How's Ryan?

As many of you requested, we finally put up a page that gives updates on Ryan's health issues.

Jan 8, 2008

We want to thank everyone so much for the prayers and support that we have received since ChristLights.  Our God is so good!

Ryan continues to struggle with a great deal of pain.  After a very difficult two days he has been given some different medications to try.  We are hoping that they will bring some relief quickly.

Ryan is on the waiting list at Mayo.  We won't know for another couple of weeks when his appointment is but it is looking now like it will be Mid March to April.

Again, thank you so much for your prayers.

In Christ,

Rick, Kim, Ryan and Mandy

Mayo Clinic - March 2008

Mayo Clinic is a phenomenal place.  While we did not receive an actual "name" of the cause of Ryan's pain, they were able to suggest a treatment.  We left feeling very blessed to have been able to have been given such great care.  The trip also proved how EXCELLENT our doctors here in Grand Rapids were.  Our experience right here in our own town was highly complimented by the Mayo docotors.

July 2008 - Wow...God is so good.  We were very blessed to have been visited this summer by a woman who shared her own experience with the very same illness.  It is so unusual, we were SHOCKED that someone else had experienced the same thing, right here in Grand Rapids!  The only way this woman knew about Ryan was because of Christlights.  That is certainly no conicidence!  She was able to share that she had an equally painful experience herself - which helped us to validate what Ryan had been through.  She also shared that she has dealt with the residual effects for 8 years!  UNBELIEVABLE!  Her visit with us was such a blessing because it helped us change our perspective about his illness.  We've stopped looking for him to get better soon.  Instead, we have a much more long term outlook.  He still hurts all the time but a bad day is only a bad day, not a bad three weeks.  It is certainly manageable now.  Praise God!

***M. B. - thank you SO MUCH for sharing your story.  I can't tell you how much that helped us deal with everything.  You were certainly God's messenger in this circumstance! ~Kim

Hey Everyone! Since Last year, I've gotten a lot better. My chest has not flaired up to the point where I cant do anything, which is amazing! Every once and a while I'll get some minor pains, but its nothing I cant ignore or put up with. Thanks for all of your prayers! God is good!

Thanks,
Ryan Strayhorn
